What To Pack When You Travel With Kids

Essentials for getting the family road trip ready these school holidays.

Beep beep! You hear that, kids? It’s road trippin’ time. Number one on countless ‘Top Things To Do In Australia’ lists, the road trip is an iconic family getaway best experienced over the course of the summer school holidays. With country town bakeries, untapped beaches and more on the hit-list, make THE ICONIC Kids your first destination for all of the family’s road trip essentials.

Get the band in the van and cruise into the sunset, but before you hit the road, there are some things you won’t want to forget. Bandaids, backup undies and travel toiletries are an obvious choice for the super organised parents, but to keep the kids entertained for the long haul, be sure to fill their backpacks with a few of their favourite things.

It’s more than likely they’ll want to have 1000+ hours of The Wiggles playing on repeat and pumped up loud, so don’t forget those noise cancelling headphones for when you all hit struggle street! Stock up on bribe candy and leave the ‘no sweets rule’ at home – it’s the holidays after all. Endless snacks are also a must, so prepare their lunchboxes the night before and pack them to the brim with all the yummy stuff, like chocolates, chips and cut up fruit.

For the backseat teens and all those Disney-loving in-betweens, colouring kits, card games, fully-charged phones and iPads will hopefully keep the moaning and sibling bickering at bay. Keep your most trusty tools at arms reach for your best chance of reaching your destination with your sanity still intact, and remember to take regular pitt stops so they can stretch their little legs and burn off any pent-up energy. Find everything you need in our family road trip edit and godspeed!
