In search of inspiration as to what to get Dad this year, we checked in with Marty Thomas. Dad of many and one of the faces of this year's Father's Day campaign, he shared a little of what he is really after on 6 September.
Father's Day, for Thomas, looks "Like any other day, to tell the truth."
"I'm blessed at present that circumstances have thrown us together as a family again and I'm currently living with my three boys. I'm pretty sure I'll get a few messages and posts on Father's Day... and some hugs."
Describe your ‘Dad style’ for us. What is your Dad uniform?
"I tend to overdress. I have a large wardrobe with many vintage finds so I enjoy an opportunity to wear something truly classic. My signature look is a cravat."
And how would your kids describe your style?
"On a casual day: 'lacking'. On a dress up day: 'flamboyant'."
What are some of the best things about being a dad?
"The love and respect that comes back at you more and more every year as they grow up. Eventually, turning from father figure to friend is pretty special."
What was the biggest surprise about being a dad?
"Being a dad of several children, from the same gene bank, it amazes me to see their very different personalities developing."
What’s on your list for this Father’s Day?
"Getting a bit spoiled. Breakfast in bed maybe? Family dinner together."
Your favourite dad jokes?
"Apparently, I am not a funny man. So I'll pass. :)"
And finally, any advice for new dads?
"You may end up sleeping a whole lot less for the next YEARS, but it is all worth it. Trust the process. There is nothing on earth to compare with becoming a dad."
