Remember summer? You were wearing floral dresses, singlet tops and skirts that showed off your summer glow? Oh wait, remember when you had a summer glow? Now winter’s in full swing, I find myself having some serious “winter denial,” wearing my favourite summer dress with a denim jacket and thinking it’s appropriate for 8℃ nights. But fear not! There’s a way to keep the summer vibes going all year round. We know a couple of tricks that will have you brightening up your winter wardrobe.
Layer it
Unpack your favourite summer dress, or midi skirt and pair it with a turtleneck or sweatshirt (also great for hiding a singlet or thermal underneath). Tights are also a winter staple to layer. You may not have worn these since high school, but hear me out. Buying a thicker pair of tights will keep you warm all day (the Europeans are onto something.)
Wear-everywhere boots
Investing in a pair of ultra versatile boots, from trending hiking styles to the season’s end-at-the-knee, lengths, will give you extra wear out of you favourite dresses and skirts. Pairing them with some fun socks will promise extra compliments all day.

Invest in a coat, like a real adult coat
If you’re having flashbacks to your mum yelling “don’t leave the house without a jumper,” you’re in the right mindset. It’s time to bite the bullet and buy a winter coat, this bad boy has to be something you love because it’s going to be in your life for a long time. It’s not just a piece of clothing but an investment. Choose something classic, that goes with everything, or an uplifting, bright colour. Trust us it will treat you better than any summer fling.

The cape-blanket hybrid
I get it. There are some days where you really just question why you need to go to work in the first place. For this, I give you the best invention since sliced bread. The cape is just an excuse for a socially acceptable blanket at work. PS. Be ready to share because this may go missing from your desk. Style with anything – it doesn’t matter because you’re going to be wrapped up like a fashionable burrito in no time.
