Spring – the season of new beginnings. When the chill leaves the air, the flowers begin to bloom and the binge-fests that are Grand Final weekend and the Melbourne Cup are just around the corner. And there are weddings. Lots and lots of weddings.
In celebration of the warmer climes, THE ICONIC is launching new label Aere, a ravishing edit of light, cool, sustainable pieces for men and women, as casual as they are smart, ideally weighted for the longer days and nights. We’ve suggested a few common springtime happenings that could be popping up on your horizon – and what to wear at each.
Your Mate’s Wedding
Winter’s too cold, summer’s too hot, making spring everyone’s favourite wedding season. And with so many couples now tying the knot on a beach, in the bush or at some overseas paradise, you’ll no longer need bowtie and braces - a linen long sleeve shirt's the way to go. If you’re lucky you might even get a weekend wedding at the recently reopened Hayman Island.
A Big Night Out
Winter’s gone and the annual social-hibernation is over – expect to find your phone burning up with mates you haven’t heard from in a while, desperate for a night out. Now’s the chance to try the places that have opened while you’ve been dozing on the sofa the last few months, like Melbourne’s new subterranean beauty Bar Margaux.
Rooftop Drinks
Is there a more satisfying feeling than supping a cocktail at a rooftop bar, like the one atop Perth’s QT say, on a warm spring night with the city lights blazing away around you? We think not. Although sinking a few beers on a sizzling afternoon overlooking the ocean may come close. Sydney’s Coogee Pavilion might just help you out with the latter.
Hitting the Beach
For those of us who avoided the cold swells through the winter, the slightest hint of sun means the beach is finally back on the agenda. While baking in the rays and the occasional dip will fill up any day by the sea, there are beach events all over the country to look out for – Bondi’s amazing kite carnival, the Festival of the Winds, on September 8, for one.
