Lifestyle And Activewear Pieces We're Living In This Summer 2021

Have you forgotten how to dress for inessential outings? Or maybe you’ve just become accustomed to the comfort of wearing sportswear 24/7. Either way, we’ve got good news: wearing activewear everywhere is still a vibe. 

With eased restrictions and warmer weather just around the corner, we can’t wait to spend some quality time with our nearest and dearest and are determined to do so in with an edge to our style that a 2021 Sporty Spice would be proud of. To be fair, Posh and Becks are both constantly snapped wearing activewear living out their day to day lives, and who can blame them? Celebrities are people too, after all. With new arrivals flooding in from all of our favourite sport brands, we’ve done our best to highlight a few key pieces alongside fashion tips for acing the activewear trend which is showing no signs of slowing down. 

As a general rule, comfort first is a good place to start when thinking about sportswear (or any wear, to be honest). Warmer weather means we can start packing away our trackies and getting our favourite shorts, tees and tanks into rotation. For ladies, high-waisted bike shorts are still the essential activewear piece. Comfy, stretchy and available in just about every colour under the sun, they’re a fashion favourite away from exercise as well as evidenced in countless runway show appearances over the last few seasons. As always, finding a top to match is an easy-win with cropped tops still the peoples’ choice.

For men, its definitely shorts season as well and we’re sticking with sweats for casual get-ups. A relaxed fit, cut just above the knee is about as comfy as it gets and just as we were saying for women, there’s easy points on the style board for matching your top and bottom halves. Neutral colours are a safe bet, but don’t be afraid to experiment with a pop of colour. 

Sneakers and slides are a perfect partner for your sporty look. Nike and adidas are coming correct in that department as usual but we’ve also got a lot of love for new arrivals from New Balance and Reebok who are turning up the heat with their spring and summer collections. White sneakers reminiscent of golden-era tennis and basketball shoes are a timeless staple, and with a flash of colour or metallic detailing commonplace on seasonal silhouettes, there are plenty of pairs out there with a little personality of their own. If you’re feeling something a little bit more bold, pastel and loud colourways with white crew socks or no-shows are a fun way to flex your individual style.
