Now that Paris Fashion Week has wrapped for Spring/Summer 2022, we have trawled our Instagram saved lists and Pinterest boards to bring you the easiest trends to wear from fashion’s most elite pack. It may be autumn on the other side of the world, but there’s a lot of outfit inspiration we can bring to our own summer wardrobes from the ladies heating up the sidewalks of Paris RN.
Outside the runways of Dior, Chanel, Balenciaga and Miu Miu, we’ve seen not only designer clothing steal the show, but some more laid back, wearable fashion styles hit the streets. Denim trends have shifted away from the high-waisted, figure-hugging skinny jeans we’ve been dreading squeezing back into post-lockdown. The chunky sandals and combat boots we’ve been carefully curating remain the stand-out women’s footwear favourite, while preppy, sporty styles are making the transition from our sweats a lot easier to manage.
And if the re-introduction of heels to our weekend wardrobe has induced some mild anxiety, it’s good to know that socks will be cushioning us from even the strappiest stiletto styles (blisters be gone!)
Comfortable fashion is not going anywhere, even if we finally are!

Women’s Denim
Relaxed boyfriend jeans are, thankfully, the denim du jour. Paired with a structured crop top and tailored blazer, this more laid back take on the ultimate wardrobe hero is surely influenced by the desk-dressing days of the modern Zoom office. Easily thrown over a bikini, or dressed up with a nice top for date night, the beauty of this look is that there are literally no restrictions. Levi’s and Cotton ON have taken it one step further and introduced a more relaxed fit to their range of denim shorts if you absolutely cannot stand the idea of a full leg jean in summer.

A chunky sole with EVERYTHING
Love or loathe this footwear trend, the chunky shoe has staying power. Throw on literally anything in your wardrobe, and the platform sole will transform the look into an edgier, more fashion-forward statement. Designer dresses, slip skirts and wide leg pants are all fair game. Dip your toes into this trend with a pair of pillow-soft Alias Mae or timeless Dr Martens.

Green is the colour of the moment
Surely driven by our ever-increasing awareness of Mother Nature and its relevance to our fashion choices, emerald and forest tones are taking over. The Insta-fabulous IT-girls in their head-to-toe looks have all our attention, but even the most subtle inclusion of green via accessories has us filtering our online search by colour. Poppy Lissiman has a Lime Croc cross-body bag to brighten your summer picnic outfit. Or try a Tony Bianco statement heel made from a soft, transparent Vinalite (a foot-friendly PVC).

The Preppy Pack
What better brand to assist us in our emergence from activewear to street-ready styles, than Lacoste? It is France, afterall. Preppy pullovers, polo dresses and cable knit cardigans epitomise this easy-wear fashion fusion, with logo lovers sure to be adding to cart. Comfort is again at the heart of this trend. If there’s a better feeling than pulling on a fresh cotton pull-over, we’d like to know about it.

Bold Prints
New York Fashion Week 2021 championed the party shirt. Dialing it up a notch, the party-goers of Paris are slicing and dicing florals, acid tie-dyes and even the odd serving of camo print. The rule is, there are no rules, so combine your brightest and boldest. It has us questioning, how long will the matching bikinis and complimentary bike shorts and crop sets last?

Heels with socks
High Heel Jungle founder Kathryn Eisman seems to be on the money with her inimitable range of cheeky socks. As a form of fashion expression at an affordable price point, mixing or matching your prettiest heels to your socks seems like a win all-round. We’re re-introducing heel-wearing without sacrificing the comfort of toasty toes or blister-free feet. Draw attention with fluorescent limes (again a nod to the colour of the moment, green) or perhaps pare it back with stocking-like opacities, the combinations are endless. And if you decide a heel is just a step too far, our carts can always use a fresh pair of socks for our favourite white sneakers.

Bucket Hats
We’ll admit, we were actively looking for this particular trend. Since entering our wishlists in summer 2020, they’ve been waiting patiently for a proper moment to shine. Heavier fabrications such as shearlings, woollen felts and faux-leathers were prominent in Paris due to the chillier temps, but summer-ready styles by Faithfull The Label and Cecilie Copenhagen mean we can hop on this trend immediately. More good news, we get to pair ours with swimwear!
