First and foremost: food. No one is happy when they’re hungry so make sure you have enough for everyone. Suggest a “bring-a-plate” system and share it on the group chat so you don’t double-up on snacks and condiments.
Bevvies and a bucket of ice. As obvious as it seems, drinks and ice are easy to forget when you’re busy worrying about what meat (or non-meat) to barbecue, so keep this on your list as high priority together with a bottle opener and drinking vessels.
Grilling equipment i.e. an actual grill of sorts, and depending on what type – gas or charcoal, oil, foil, tongs, a flipper if needed…
Table setting supplies. If you’re grilling away from home, choose environmentally friendly options over single-use plastic plates, cups and utensils.
Entertainment. Keep people from feeling hangry with games to play while you get the fire started, and set the mood with a summer playlist.
Once you’ve got the above covered, all that’s left is finding something to wear…
