7 Exercises That You Can Take Anywhere

Drills that tone using your body weight and don’t require any heavy equipment.

We asked F45 Master Trainer Ann Marie Meeks to share a workout plan that we can do anywhere – whether it’s at home, outside in the park, or even at the office.

“I love going to the gym. Being around others with like-minded goals helps to motivate me. But sometimes I need a change of scenery.

Movements that utilise your body weight, or a resistance band, are incredibly effective at giving your muscles a good workout. Plus, you can do these exercises anywhere because they don’t require any heavy equipment.”

“Anything can be a workout if you put your mind (and body) to it! When I’m at home, I use my socks as sliders to do knee-tucks on the kitchen tiles. I hold my kids while I do squats and push-ups – they think it’s a game!”

Try these exercises the next time you feel like skipping the gym, and make the most of the warmer weather by taking your training outdoors.

Using resistance bands:

Bicep Curls

Loop the band under your feet or around a stable object and pull slowly, making sure your elbows are close to your ribcage.

Tricep Extensions

Bend at your elbows and move at a slow and steady pace. Keep a neutral spine and avoid arching your back.

Shoulder Press

Start with your wrists by your shoulders and reach your arms high to the sky for a full extension.

Resistance Band Extensions

The closer your hands are at the start, the harder it’s going to be to pull them apart, so start wide and gradually walk your hands in.

Using just your bodyweight:

Standing Squats

Hinge at the hips and drop to a ninety-degree angle, or try these alternative exercises to target your glutes.

Push-Ups

Hug your elbows close to your body and keep your core activated.

Plank Variations

Drop to your elbows and twist your hips from side to side to fire up your core, or play with the positioning of your hands and feet – there are so many variations to keep things interesting.
